Whether you are a long-time follower of Christ, coming back to church after a time away, or checking out church for the first time, we are so glad you are here.
What is a typical worship service like?
We gather on Sunday mornings to meet with and hear from God in worship through His word (the Bible), communion, singing praises, prayer, and other parts of our worship service. The aim of our worship is gravity and gladness—to cultivate a sense that we meet with the created God of the universe and that in his presence there is fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11). Our worship is shaped by Scripture and both contemporary and timeless prayers and truths treasured by Christians around the global and throughout the last two thousand years. At the heart of our service in hearing from God through the word preached and responding by regularly receiving from the Lord’s table.
What is your music like?
We sing both contemporary songs and well-known hymns and are led each week by a full band in vibrant joy-filled singing.
How Long Is Your Service?
Our worship services usually last 75 minutes on non-communion Sundays and are slightly longer on communion Sundays. We celebrate communion on the first, third, and (where appropriate) fifth Sundays. We hope you will have a powerful sense of God’s presence in this place and that you will find your soul satisfied in new and fresh ways on Sunday mornings.
Does CKC have a children’s ministry and nursery?
Yes! We have children’s ministry from first through third grade. We provide a safe, clean, well-structured, and joyful space for our children to feel comfortable and engaged as they grow to know more about following Jesus. Older children (pre-K through third grade) typically stay in the service and go to their children’s ministry classrooms during the Gospel in Community time about halfway through the service.
Where Do I Park?
We meet at 1332 Maryland Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28209 (right next to the Freedom Park tennis courts). When you arrive, you will see signs directing you to two options for parking—either right next to our worship space or overflow parking lot by the Freedom Park tennis courts.
What if Parking is Full at the Freedom Park Tennis Courts?
There is additional parking at Freedom Park, right in front of the basketball courts when you enter Freedom Park. To park here, exiting the parking lot by the tennis courts, turn left on East Blvd, turn left into Freedom Park, and park in the spaces in front of the basketball court on the right. From there it is a less than a minute walk from those parking space to our worship facility following the map across the bridge.
Is there coffee and fellowship time after the service?
Yes! After the service each week we enjoy coffee, pastries, and fellowship in the foyer right outside of our worship space. On the second Sunday of every month, we share a full meal together. No RSVP necessary!
Do I Need Be A Christian to Attend a Worship Service? What are the people like?
No. Our desire is to be a community where we can be honest about our struggles and genuinely be known, be loved, and belong while we grow together in our faith and wrestle with spiritual things. If you are new, we want to invite you not just to be a part of a new community, but a new kind of community. We are a group of imperfect, deeply flawed people, who believe that it is through the cracks of our sin, weakness, brokenness and failure that God’s grace seeps in and that we experience God’s kindness, mercy, and love. We desire to be a people who are radically committed not taking ourselves too seriously. We would love to meet you!
